2002 State Holiday Closings
Listed below are state government office closings for the months of September through December of 2002 . This information was provided by each state as of September 5, 2002 and may be subject to change without CSC's knowledge. CSC will update this information if we become aware of any changes. (Please note that court, county and local jurisdictions may vary.)
Important Note: Please note, dates marked with an ** are still awaiting jurisdictional approval for closure. States will be added to the list as approved.
October 14th (Monday)
The following states will be CLOSED in observance of Columbus Day
- Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia.
October 14th (Monday)
The following state will be CLOSED in observance of Native American Day
- South Dakota
October 18th (Friday)
The following state will be CLOSED in observance of Alaska Day
- Alaska
October 25th (Friday)
The following state will be CLOSED in observance of Nevada Day
- Nevada
November 1st Friday)
All Louisiana Parish Courthouses will be CLOSED in observance of All Saints Day.
November 5th (Tuesday)
The following states will be CLOSED in observance of Election Day
- Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, New Jersey ,Rhode Island
November 11th (Monday)
ALL STATES will be CLOSED in observance of Veteran's Day
November 28th (Thursday)
ALL STATES will be CLOSED in observance of Thanksgiving Day
November 29th (Friday)**
The following states will be CLOSED for the day after Thanksgiving
- California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.
December 24th (Tuesday)**
The following states will be CLOSED for Christmas Eve
- Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.
December 25th (Wednesday)
ALL STATES will be CLOSED in observance of Christmas Day
December 26th (Thursday)
The following states will be CLOSED in observance of Boxing Day
