CSC®...A Proud History. A Progressive Future.

1899 — State of Delaware adopts the Delaware General Corporation Law — landmark legislation that simplified the legal process of incorporation and granted certain tax advantages to corporations.

Otho Nowland, President of Equitable Guarantee & Trust Company, shares an idea with Christopher Ward, a young Wilmington lawyer. Nowland proposes that Ward establish an agency to assist with outside counsel in organizing corporations and acting as their local registered agent. Ward agrees and, with an initial investment of $1,500, he launches the Delaware Incorporators' Trust Company.

Josiah Marvel, a well-respected attorney and leader of the American Bar Association, Delaware Bar Association, and Delaware State Chamber of Commerce, pioneers a similar incorporation company designed to register companies as corporate entities within the state of Delaware.
